Curriculum

Our school has three departments – Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception), Key Stage 1 (Y1 & Y2) and Key Stage 2 (Y3, Y4, Y5 & Y6).

School is organised into mixed ability classes according to age. All our children’s learning is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and the National Curriculum.

Our curriculum is exciting, innovative, personalised and heavily influenced by the children’s own interests. This is securely underpinned by the legal requirements and expectations of the Early Years and National Curriculum.

Through our curriculum we aim to develop children’s skills for life in reading, writing, numeracy, personal and social skills. We also aim to develop and promote individual talents through our curriculum and after school provision.

The school employs a variety of teaching and learning methods, which depend upon the particular aspects of the curriculum and the age and ability of the pupils. The specific needs of the children are met through individual, whole class and a variety of small, specific groupings.

The needs of all children, including all groups of vulnerable learners, are met through appropriate monitoring and assessment. The school makes provision for all children with special needs, wherever possible, working in partnership with parents/carers and taking account of the child’s wishes.

Pupils are tracked rigorously through the school to ensure that progress is made and all pupils achieve their full potential.

Children follow a theme every term which is underpinned by the teaching of the National Curriculum.

Parents are informed of the curriculum themes at each parents’ evening and at the ‘Meet the Teacher
